About the Session Host:

An energy and regulatory attorney, Jamie Beard left the white-shoe law firm scene to try her hand at bringing about fast, efficient climate change solutions. She founded the Geothermal Entrepreneurship Organization, a US Department of Energy-funded program aimed at recruiting oil and gas talent to launch geothermal startups. A thought leader on clean energy initiatives, Jamie is a passionate believer in geothermal energy as the baseload capable clean energy of the future.

About the Competition:

The Geothermal Reimagined New Venture Competition aims to put a spotlight on the flourish of innovation and new startups emerging in geothermal. GEO received dozens of applications for the competition from all over the world representing a variety of geothermal related concepts, and across all stages of development.

Ten startups competed in a semi-final round in early June. The semi-finalists competing in the semi-final round included Hephae Energy Technology, Middle East Well Services, CeraPhi Energy, Sustainable GeoEnergy, GreenFire Energy, Ontario Geothermal Renewable Energy, Carbfix, Hypersciences, Quaise, and ATX GeoEnergy. The semi-finalist competitors were selected to represent a variety of backgrounds, concepts, geographies, and technology readiness levels. They ranged from pre-seed to growth stage.

The four emerging finalists will pitch to Judges Sir Richard Branson and Chris Anderson, and to the global audience at Pivot2021. The competition finalists are GreenFire Energy, Hephae Energy Technology, Hypersciences, and Carbfix.

The Pivot2021 audience will have a chance to choose the startup that they think has the greatest potential for global impact in an audience choice award, so be sure to catch the event live to vote for your favorite!
